The counseling is done by JOSSA .

• In counseling you have to fill your choices in your preferred order .
• Then you will alloted a seat from your choice list which is at the highest position with respect to your rank . eg :- you have filled IIT Bombay at first , IIT Kanpur at second and IIT BHU at third and so on , now if you are getting 1st you will only get offer from 1st not from 2nd or 3rd or any other of your options if you got 2nd then you will get offer from 2nd only not from any other and so on.
• Now you have three option when  a seat is alloted to you they are freeze , float and slide .
• Freeze :- If you are satisfied with the seat you have got you can freeze it and you will have to report at reporting centre pay the fee and verify your document and it is over for you , you have got admission in that college .
• Float :- If you don't like the college and think that you can get some better college then you can choose this option in this you will have the seat alloted to you and go in next round for better option if you get better college then it is ok if not then the one you have got in privious round is already yours .
• Slide :- This means you accept the college but want to go for better branch in same college . So , you can opt for this , again in this if you get good branch then it is ok otherwise you already have the privious branch you have been alloted .
