sir, im graduated in bcom computer application this year. plz guid me to select best masters in MBA.
MBA has five broad specializations namely marketing, finance, human resources, systems and operation. The first three are general specialization which people from any academic background may choose. The systems and operation are normally chosen by enginneers which need some technical knowledge. Most of IT and operation papers may take by any background, but when comes to placement scenario companies prefer enginneers for the related jobs. And you will get fair idea about specialization when you join MBA. Generally all subjects are common paper in first year and all people have to study. This will give you fair understanding about every specialization and you have to choose electives the end of first year.
You should understand this- Though you had computer applications as a subject in your graduation, please remember that you are ultimately a commerce graduation. Your computer application knowledge is just 10% and with this, you cannot get a job in IT company.
MBA is advisable only if you are getting admission in a top college like IIMs, XLRI, FMS, IIFT, SP Jain etc.
You can choose to do MBA in Finance or IT. You will have to choose your domain of interest. Also you will be required to study computer deeply in order to go further in this field if not finance or commerce.
To do MBA, it is necessary to have graduation with minimum 50% marks and for the SC/ST there is 5% relaxation. And there is no compulsion for the particular stream in graduation. And as you have done B.com in computers the scope shall be good for MBA but do not get confused in your aim.
Also you will be required to give entrances like CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT etc..
Applications for CAT and XAT have started.
Hope this helps!
