498 marks are not that much bad as it is all about hardwork reflected but for generals its only a dream for them to get govt. Collegeas previous year cutoff for general was min. 504 for getting govt. College but dont loose hope apply for it .

Depends on which state you are for men how high or low have the cutoff been for the government medical colleges of that state

Usually with the present level of competition unless you got a score and excess of 530 to 540 getting into a Government Medical College with an am reserved seat is really difficult even with the 85% state quota availability

15% all India quota is absolutely out of your reach if you are speaking about Government Medical College admission
