In terms of name (B.Tech and B.E.), it may sound different, however, in terms of application, learning, curiculum and job opportunities, both B.E. and B.Tech are considered as eqivalent and valid. It's not that one is given precedence over the other. Whether you pursue B.E. or B.Tech depends on your interest and you should not be confused thinking that B.E. will get less importance over B.Tech.
The fact of the matter here to understand is that the name of the courses B.E. or B.Tech is determined by the choice any particular institute/university/college applies for and what UGC/AICTE grants that institute.
There is no difference in B.E. and B.Tech. You can go for anything of the two.
