It is totally your discretion whether you want to attempt the improvement paper or not. Your final grade sheet will show the best of the marks scored in both the exams, i.e. in your case, you having given only one improvement paper, if your score is more, then that will reflect and for the rest of the papers, you will be awarded the previous marks.
