First of all congratulations for securing 96% in class 12 Examinations. Now according to your JEE Mains rank I can truly understand how a student feels on getting such rank in national level examination. According to me you should take drop this year only if you wants to be an IITIAN by heart. The reason for mentioning "truly by heart" line is because now days students are dropping just because their friends are dropping or they might have got admission into IIT, NIT, etc. It is true that in IIT'S or NIT'S only creamy students get admission but my friend it is not THE END. Talking about placements so these days skillful students from private institutions are even getting packages upto Rs. 30 Lakhs per annum and average package of Rs. 4.5 Lakhs per annum. I am not saying that you shouldn't drop but instead you should drop only if you want to get admission in IIT and nothing else. Never ever drop if you have a thinking like - " let's take a drop this year and then will see what happens next year". You still have chance to take admission in good and topmost engineering colleges of India and that too with a score of 96% in boards. Try for below colleges if you don't want to drop -
1. Manipal University ( Jaipur / Karnataka)
2. Shiv Nadar University, Dadri
3. KIIT Bhubaneswar
4. SRM University
5. NIIT University, Neemrana
6. Amity University, Noida
7. Bennett University, Greater Noida
8. JAIN University, Bangalore
9. BML Munjal University
10. Manav Rachna University
11. MIT World Peace University
12. Chandigarh University
I hope this helps you !
As your 12 percentages are good and if you have passed 12 class this year then I think you should drop a year and start for preparing for JEE Main and Advanced and for some good government engineering colleges because doing engineering from IIT,s NIT,s and good government colleges is far better than private college. That's why I am telling you that you should try one more time.
Hope it answer your concerns.
Hello Jatin,
First of all don't feel so down on yourself. If you are able to get Thapar University then i would suggest you that you should go for it, as it is a good university. And taking drop should be solely your decision. You should not go for drop until and unless you are sure within yourself that you would do better for sure else don't take the risk. As your friends they will be out there enjoying their life and you will be studying so, you should keep in mind to all these things before you take any decision.
If still there ia some doubt left in you then feel free to ask.
