As per the official notification, the eligiblity criteria for admission to NITs, IITs and other government colleges through JEE exam is that candidate should have qualified class XII boards with atleast 75% aggregate marks for general category and 65% marks for SC,ST and PwD.
Since your child secured 63% in class XII boards, unfortunately he is not eligible for admission to any government colleges based on his JEE Mains and Advanced marks
.
However, he can take entrance exams of various private colleges and secure a seat in them.
Good luck!
For getting into nits or iits or iiits, the aspirant should satisfy the following criterias:
1.he should be in top 20 percentile of the respective board
OR
2. He should get a minimum aggregate of 75% in his 12th boards for general and obc category and 65% for sc,st category
If your son is in Cbse board he doesn't satisfy these criterias and hence he is not eligible for josaa counselling. If he is not in Cbse board then he can check the top 20 percentile of that respective board.
Hope it helps.
Hello,
The percentile which yoir son had got in JEE Mains is good .But to get admission in the NITs or IITs , other than having qualifying good rank in that exam, you need to have a minimum score in 12th also. For SC the minimum score is 65%.As your son has got less than 65%,I don't think he will get any IIT or NIT.You can still check if he is Top 20 percentile of 12 result or not . If this criteria is fulfilled then he may have a chance.
Thank you.
