IIIT Himachal Pradesh, better known as IIIT Una is one of the institutes of national importance and has been set up quite recently. The campus is not yet developed and thus they are forced to function from inside the NIT Hamirpur in a transit campus. It may take some time for it to reach a level of institution that we expect from a brand like IIT, NIT or IIIT. The college environment for some years might be of NIT Hamirpur and thus you might be getting a good competitive environment. The placements are done together but IIIT Una students might be barred from sitting for some of the companies if stated by that company. Otherwise the college and student are good and I think the new campus, if developed on time, will provide you with the latest technology available in the industry. The less number of students also ensures you will be having a more close student to teacher relation in the colleges. For now, you can enjoy NIT Hamirpur untill permanent campus is developed. You can and shoul wait for a further preference in JoSAA rounds and then also sit for special rounds, your seat of IIIT Una will not be lost and there is no harm in waiting for a few more rounds.
