As per your query.you want to know about the self attested document. in xerox copy of your certificate. do sign with date .that document called self attested document.

Self attested means you have to sign on the xeroxed documents.
To elaborate further,suppose you want to self attest your class 10 marksheet, so all you got to do is take its xerox and sign on it.
