To become a software engineer you need to have computational skills, analytical skills, problem solving and must have sound knowledge in mathematics.So you need have mathematics as compulsory subject in 10+2.And yes you can give mathematics exam through nios.They will conduct on demand exam where a candidate can take examination of any one subject.You can go through the link for more detailed information and apply for it
