see bio medical engineering has concept of software systems and architecture, you may have learnt about instrumentation and electronics, so you may try projects which has collaboration of electronics and softwares, like there is many project available on cheap heart rate monitoring systems, blood pressure measurement instruments etc.

The first thing that came to my mind seeing this was GENETICS. It is a fastly developing field and will definetly have a whole lot of applications in the future.
Now since your degree is a B.Tech degree, I would also recommend you to do projects using Machine learning. Like developing machine learning models for the probability rates of various surgeries for example.
