Hello,
See, there are two ways to look at when you're considering to appear for UPSC, first is with back up plan and another is without back up plan, this exam is highly compeitive and talking purely from the exam perspective the syllabus of UPSC is more humanities than and when you have BA in graduation then you're already well acquainted with the syllabus as you study subjects like history, geography, political science, economics etc, and these subjects are also listed in optional subject, hence there is considerable overlap with that syllabus of general studies and optional subjects, you can of course choose to go with academia, or teaching career with BSc/BA, other than this the rest is up to you, as you are a better judge of yourself, if there is something else you want to take plan you can do that well, as the eligibility criteria for UPSC itself states candidates to have passed graduation in any discipline from a recognized University, and attained 21 years as on 1st August of the appearing year .
