Hello Ayushmann,

Ji han agar kisike 99 percentile aa rhe hain JEE-Main 2021 February mein 60 questions attempt krne pr aur wahi usi candidate ke same percentile aarhi hai 60 question JEE-Main 2021 March attempt mein toh uski value same hogi aur uski rank bhi almost aas-paas hi hogi. Percentile system banaya hi is liye gya hai, kyuki ho skta hai ki JEE-Main 2021 February ka paper tough rha ho jis wajah se aapki kam question pr achi percentile aa jaye aur wahin JEE-Main 2021 March attempt ka paper thoda easy ho jiski wajah se zyada question krne pr bhi utni hi percentile aayi ho, is wajah se result banane mein partiality na ho isi liye percentile system banaya gya.

Ideally, the difficulty of the paper and overall performance of others in a particular session of JEE Main are factors which determine your percentile besides, your Total Score. I personally believe at later sessions of JEE Main in April/May , you will always require to solve higher number of questions against a particular percentile for a moderate paper, unlike for earlier sessions of JEE Main. An average student is always better prepared for his 2nd or 3rd session when compared to his 1st session, hence higher competition.

I can share you my experience of 2019, I had secured 208 in JEE Main January session with a percentile of 99.04, whereas with the same score (207) in April session, I secured 98.5 percentile, which clearly suggests need of solving higher number of questions rightly with higher accuracy for 99 percentile.
