The Pisum sativum flower contains 10 anthers which are dithecous. Thus each stamen contains 4 microsporangia. These microsporangia develop into pollen sacs.

Thus the total number of pollen sacs in each flower

= Number of anthers X Number of pollen sacs per anther

=10 x 4

=40 pollen sacs
