Hey .
If you are aiming for becoming an IAS officer it's a huge thing in itself so I would suggest you to focus on that and choose a simple graduation like BA or law as that would help you in the longer run .
Just choose your options wisely. Do you want to do according to your convenience.
First of all, if you think that you want to be an IAS then I will suggest you to go for Bachelor In Arts.
You can take majors Political science or sociology.
This subjects help one to crack any government exams like UPSC, SSC CGL and State Public Comission Exams and RRB too.
This subjects are very informative and easy to understand.
I will say if you belong from Arts background then please go for it but if you are from other background like Science, I will suggest that think twice or thrice or hundred times before changing streams.
UPSCs syllabus is unrecognizable and it changes with time.
So. work hard and start reading newspaper and always motive yourself.
Cheers !!
Hello Vaishnavi, See I can totally understand your situation and your goal. Let me inform you something before you make your decision. UPSC demands graduate candidate from any respective field passed from the recognized college or university (UGC or AICTE approved). Even pursuing Final year candidate can too apply for UPSC exam. For general category, it has 6 attempts and 32 years age limit.
UPSC is not a Game, it needs one to two years with full dedication, focus and hard work... If you have interest in science then apply in UPSC with the science background. Becoz, It shall not be the situation that you changed your field and later it became harder for you in term of not able to gain career in any field (neither science nor UPSC).
See UPSC contains few papers, and among these papers, science and technology paper is one of them which is needed to be covered. Plus there is one optional paper which contains two parts (Paper I & II) of 500 marks. This optional paper can be from science background such as Medical Science/ Physics/ Zoology/ Mathematics/ Geology/ Geography/ Chemistry/ Botany and many more.
So, 1st, i want you to complete you 12th with the good mark.
2ndly, want you to complete your graduation in your interested science field or apply for NEET.
3rdly, By the time you complete your graduation in science, your age will be 21 to 22 or by the time you complete your Medical studies and practice your age will be near about 24... You will have all 8 to 10 years in your hand to give your all 6 attempts...
Under this situation - (1) you have respectable job in medical field, (2) You can manage your time slot without any tension for UPSC, (3) Many doctors are doing the same and they are still applying for UPSC with doing their medical job
So, best of luck, in case of further query you are free to contact...
