Hello chander

Before getting on with RD Sharma, make sure that you have completed your NCERT because it will make you familiar with all the concepts. What's left will be the application only then.

Start it with the chapters you are good at or you like the most. Try to do unsolved questions, think in as many different ways as possible to solve a question if it's tricky. Refer to examples as well for knowing the procedure of solving some questions.

Once you start it you'll finish it if you do it with determination.

Thanks for contacting us.

All the best!!

Hello,

RD Sharma is one of the most prescribed books for school mathematics, starting from class 6 to 12th. It is best book to grasp the basic concepts of mathematics, due to the large number of examples and exercises and simplicity of explanation.

I have myself completed the entire class 11th and 12th RD Sharma Books and this is how I think will make it easier for you to approach it.

The following chapters as grouped below belongs to the same category and each category must be done in one go.

  • Chapter 1,2,3- Sets, Relations and Functions
These chapters should be done together to maintain continuity. They are important because of the basic mathematical concepts they cover. Go through the theory part first and look how the examples are solved and learn the technique to approach the questions. Only then go for the exercise questions. These chapters collectively will take you about 2 weeks.

It is okay if you are not able to grab the solved examples in one go.

  • Chapter 4 to 11 - Trigonometry
Probably the most important topic for class 11th as they're going to help in most part of calculus of class 12th also. Keep your basics right and try to memorize the formulas if possible. Practice all examples as well as exercise questions by yourself on paper. Might take you whole month to complete these all. A whole lot to learn from these chapters.

  • Chapter 12 - Mathematical Induction
Easy chapter. Only first principle of induction is required for covering the syllabus. Must be done in 2 days at maximum.

  • Chapter 13 - Complex Numbers
Important chapter to grasp the concepts of modulus, arguments and complex plane in general. Exercise questions are only to be done if you are gone through the examples. It a bulky chapter, so might take you a week time or 10 days.

  • Chapter 14 - Quadratic Equations
A chapter that is tought to us from class 8 and still holds the relevance. Here the important part is how the concept of the quadratic equations is used in other fields. Important to learn the topics and undertand them. Time must be given to this chapter as it is going to help further in any competitive exam.

  • Chapter 15 - Linear Inequations
Graph plotting is important to learn from this chapter. The applications are mostly in higher mathematics. Might take a week.

  • Chapter 16, 17 and 18- Permutations, Combinations and Binomial Theorem
This chapter will help you in competitive exams. Solve all the problems of examples and exercises by yourself and then look at the answers. Logical reasoning increasing by solving the questions. May consume one month time.

  • Chapter 19, 20 and 21 - Arithmetic Progressions, Geometric Progressions, and Some special series
Again an important set of chapters with respect to competitive exams. Questions got to be solved on paper. Many tricks can be learnt from this chapters regarding sequence and series. Might take a month time.

  • Chapter 22 to 27 - Conic Sections
This is a vast set of chapters. Each chapter is time consuming and will make you fight harder to solve the questins. Problems can be easily solved one the concept is clear. Time taken is totally dependent on the pace one grasps the concepts. It is totally ok if it takes more time. Learning the concepts is the primary goal.

  • Chapter 28 - 3D coordinate geometry
A bit of visualisation is necessary for this chapter. Can be easily understood by taking it as an extension of 2D. The chapter is only to explaint the basics of 3D. Must be done in 1 or 2 days.

  • Chapter 29, 30 - Limits and Derivatives
Give as much time as possible to this chapter and practice each and every question. These two chapters wil make the core of 12 standard calculus as well as the undergraduate level calculus. Easy to learn concepts but tricky at times. Enjoy the chapter. Might take you a month.

  • Chapter 31 - Mathematical Reasoning
This chapter will make you learn how to do proofs. Basics of Discrete Mathematics course taught at undergraduate level. Just skim through it once and most of the part you will easily grasp.

  • Chapter 32 - Statistics
Makes the basis for those interested in statistics. Easy to learn concepts. Memorize the formulas and solve every problem set. You can yourself make the problem set and solve them. Might take a 10 days or so.

  • Chapter 33 - Probability
This chapter will use the concepts of PnC. Basics must be learnt as quickly as possible and more time is to be spent on solving problems. Might take 15 days or less if already familiar with the some concepts of probability.

The key is to devote time on regular basis. This book is bulky and the problems are of some higher level. Merely looking at the examples and not solving any of them will not do any good. Remember mathematics is always done with pen and paper.

Hey Chander,

The strategy while solving was simple, start with most easiest question from the example part and then gradually headed to the most tough question from the exercise.

The important topic for board is calculus on which  mainly focus on integration.

So if you are planning to complete the RD Sharma then start it at the earliest.

I hope this piece of infirmation helped you.

All the best!
