I hope you are doing well, Yes if for any reason you were not able to qualify JEE Mains in 2021 then you can take a drop for a year to prepare and next year you can appear again and give the exam. But if you are taking a year drop then you should keep in mind the mistakes you did and make sure you dont repeat the same mistakes. And as the exam is getting tougher every year you will have to work more hard to qualify the exam next year. So prepare well if you are taking a drop.

You are totally eligible for drop jee 2022. You only have to clarify their eligibility criteria i.e.
Eligibility for jee mains:- if you passed 12th in 2021 then you can appear in 2021, 2022 and 2023 jee mains exam. Means you can appear 3 times in mains.
Eligibility for jee advanced:- you can only appear 2 times in ADVANCED (2021 and 2022 only), if you qualify jee mains of same year.
