Correct Answer: $16 \frac{2}{3}$%

Solution : From the pie charts,
The total number of students who appeared for the examination is 1800.
The total number of students who passed is 1200.
The angle corresponding to the students who appeared from institute B in the pie chart is 112°.
Since the total angle in a circle is 360°.
The number of students who appeared from institute B = $\frac{112}{360}$ × 1800 = 560
The percentage of students who passed from institute A is 22%, and from institute C is 18%.
The total number of students who passed from institutes A and C = (22% + 18%) × 1200 = 480.
Percentage increase = $\frac{\text{(Number of students from B - Total number of students from A and C)}}{\text{Total number of students from A and C}}$ × 100
= $\frac{(560 - 480) }{ 480}$ × 100 = $16 \frac{2}{3}$%
Hence, the correct answer is $16 \frac{2}{3}$%.
