Dear Aspirant,
Mathematics is the kind of subject which involves a lot of practice, and logical thinking. For JEE having a good grasp at Mathematics is very essential as it will boost your rank and also help you throughout your engineering career.
Essentials
1. Mathematics NCERT Class 11 and 12
2. Any Book containing Previous Years Questions of Mathematics for JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. I would suggest going with Arihant or MTG.
Topic Wise Suggestions
Trigonometry
1. Plane Trigonometry Part 1 by S. L. Loney
This is the basic book that will explain concepts. This will help you build confidence.
2. Trigonometry - Mathematics for JEE Advanced by Cengage publication
This is a more advanced book that is at times challenging. So don't lose hope you will make it through.
Coordinate Geometry
1. The Elements of Coordinate Geometry Part 1 by S. L. Loney
This is the book that will teach you basic concepts and develop your perspective.
2. A Textbook of Coordinate Geometry for JEE Mains and JEE Advanced by S.K.Goyal
This is the book that offers you a lot of practice with plenty of solved and unsolved questions.
Algebra
1. Algebra - Mathematics for JEE Advanced by Cengage Publication
Algebra is very tricky and the book is perfect at explaining it. It builds the concepts from the ground up but still, I would recommend studying algebra textbooks of lower classes before starting Algebra for JEE.
Calculus
1. Calculus - Mathematics for JEE Advanced by Cengage Publication
calculus gets the highest weightage in JEE, also its a lot confusing at times and requires a lot of time to understand. This book like other books in the series start by getting the basics right.
Vectors and 3-D Geometry
1. Mathematics for Joint Entrance Examination JEE (Advanced): Vectors and 3D Geometry by Cengage Publication
This is the easiest and most scoring topic in JEE Syllabus, So make sure you do it well.
Other Suggestions
1. Mathematics by R.D.Sharma
2. Higher Algebra by Hall and Knight
3. Problems in Calculus of One Variable by I.A.Maron
Please do not buy too many books, Just stick to one book and finish it completely and master the topic.
You should try
1. NCERT books,
2. RD Sharma (Objective Mathematics for jee and other engineering entrance Examinations by RD Sharma)
3. SL looney books (especially for trigonometry and coordinate geometry)
4. A Das Gupta books
5. Cengage books by G Tewani
6. Study material from any deemed coaching institute like fiitjee, resonance, etc.
8. Arihant series
Hello,
- Start with R.D. Sharma (Subjective) for basics but don’t waste time solving unnecessary easy problems.
- After 2–3 months when you are comfortable with R.D. start a parallel book and the perfect one is A. Das Gupta (MCQ and not the subjective one).
- Near the end of +1 you can buy previous year JEE Main and Advanced book by Arihant publication.
Good Luck
Hi Bharat Kumar ! In mathematics you need to practice lot and lot. And practice means you have to practice solid problems as per JEE pattern. In JEE main exam don't practice too hard problems and don't practice too easy problems also. So the best books for solving maths for JEE mains is arihahant book series or cengage book series or the book of Balaji. Don't practice their subjective problems but practice their objective problems. So best of luck !
