suppose if I have six subjects and I failed in main subject like economics but passed all 5 subjects,so am I eligible to give compartment exam or not ?

Hi,
Different board follows different criteria. Assuming it to be CBSE, you will be declared pass in the said board examination, if you have passed in five of subjects and in general you hold six subjects in total. So, you will be considered as pass and you cannot sit for the compartment examination. So, rather than that, the board has the option to pass that leftover examination, under improvement category.
