The syllabus of TNPSC group 4 examination is listed as announced by by the Tamilnadu public service commission ( TNPSC) combined civil service examination:

The most recommended book for TNPSC group 4 are sura publications and sakthi publications it contains previous exam papers and detailed explanation for each topics.

The topics under general Studies:

  • Physics : Nature of universal scientific laws, mechanics and properties of physical quantity, standards and unit, force, motion, magnetism, electrical and electronic, heat, light and sound.
  • Chemistry : elements and compounds, acids, bases and salts, fertilizers, pesticides and insecticides.
  • Botany  : concepts of life science, classification of living organisms, nutrition and dietetics.
  • Zoology: blood circulation, reproductive system, health and hygiene, human diseases- causes, prevention and remedies.
  • History : indus valley civilization, guptas,mughal and Martha's, culture and heritage of Tamil people, dravidian movement, India since independence.
  • Geography: earth and solar system, monsoon, rainfall and climate changes, rivers, soil types, minerals and forests, population density and disaster management.
  • Indian politics: constitution of India, fundamental rights, fundamental duties, union legislatures, parliament, assembly, panchayat, judiciary in India and official languages.
  • Indian economy  : nature of Indian economy, five years plan, rural welfare, social sector problems, employment, economic trends in Tamil nadu.
  • Aptitude and mental ability test: simplification, percentage, ratio and proportion, simple interest, compound interest, logical reasoning, puzzle solving, data analysis.
