GATE is an competitive examinations held in India every year to test the comprehensive knowledge in engineering and science, the exams are administered by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).

GATE exam (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is a computer-based standardized test conducted at the national level in India with an aim to examine the understanding of various engineering and science undergraduate subjects. In the last couple of years, GATE exam has been opened to international students from the following countries as well

• Sri Lanka
• Ethiopia

GATE is conducted by following institutions:-

GATE exam consists of 65 multiple choice questions over a 3-hour duration.

GATE SCORE IS VALID FOR 3 YEARS.

ELIGIBILTY FOR GATE: -

The following  students are eligible for GATE:-

• Bachelor's Degree students in final year of Engineering/Technology/Architecture(4-yr program )
• Master's degree students Final year in any branch of science/mathematics/statistics/computer application or equivalent.
• Candidates in second year or higher year of Four-year integrated master's degree programs(Post B.Sc)in Engineering/Technology.

DURATION AND EXAM TYPE

• The examination is of 3 hrs.
• It contains total of 65 questions worth 100 marks.
• From 2014 onwards,the exam of all paper is held online on computer based test(CBT).
• The question consists of both numerical answer type and numerical answer type questions.

GATE Syllabus

GATE Exam question can be broadly classified in to:-

• Engineering mathematics questions consisting 13-15 marks.
• General Apptitude question  consisting 15 marks.
• Core question consisting of 70-72 marks.

Indian Females,SC,ST,Physically Challenged Students : RS.750

All other Indian candidate: RS 1500

International candidate: USD 50

GATE Financial Assistantship

• Candidates with a valid GATE Score can avail the benefit of GATE financial assistance/scholarships.
• This assistance is provided on provided on the semester basis up to 2 years for M.tsch students.
• While for Ph.D students ,it is provided upto a maximum of 5 yrs.
• A stipend of INR 12,400 per month is provided to M.Tech students for 8 hours of work per week.
• A stipend of INR 25,000 per month for upto 2yrs is provided to Ph.D students.
