Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology was established in the year 1967 in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. The college is affiliated with TNAU Chennai.
College offers three courses viz. four-year duration B.Tech course in Food Processing Engineering, M.Tech of two-year duration in two specializations, and Ph.D. program of three-year duration.
- The college offers online mode of the application process to the candidates through official website of the college.
- Candidates who have passed 10+2 examination in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with minimum 45% marks are considered eligible to join B.Tech Course.
- Admission to B.Tech program is done on the basis of JEE Main score.
- The minimum eligibility of M.Tech admission is candidates must have completed BE or B.Tech in relevant discipline with at least 70% marks in aggregate.
- Those who hold ME or M.Tech degree in any concerned discipline with minimum 70% marks are eligible to apply for admission to the Ph.D. program.
- Candidates are selected for admission to M.Tech and the Ph.D. course on the basis of the applicant’s merit in the qualifying examination and marks obtained in the written test and interview round.
- The college offers a scholarship to the meritorious students of each course on the basis of the eligibility.

IIFPT was formerly known as IICPT. The Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology (Formerly Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology) is a pioneer Research and Development Institute under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India.
It provides B.tech, M.tech & ph.d programmes.
