Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) is an integrated Indian Degree in the medical field. This degree programme is conferred to those students who studied the modern medicines and traditional Ayurveda.The basic requirement for the eligibility to get the admission to BAMS programme is qualifying the 10+2 examination with science stream.Day by day, the scope of Ayurvedic is overlapping to the other medical system not only in India but also in the world. In many cases, when the allopathic system becomes a failure with a particular disease and surrenders, the Ayurvedic medicine does the magical effect to rejuvenate the illness or the patient. The career opportunity after the completion of BAMS is not only in India but also in foreign countries. Lecturer, Scientist, Therapist etc are some of the jobs one can take up. Among BDS and BAMS , both of them are good at their respective fields. It you think of just doing any medical qualification then take up BDS.

BAMS course is considered one amongst the best. It is one of the preferred course for medicine. You can take up ayurveda and it's branches if you study BAMS course. The degree is of 5 years and 6 months. BAMS consists of three courses which are anatomy, physiology and ayurveda medicine.

The remuneration of an Ayurvedic doctor appointed in government hospital/department is similar to that of homeopathic doctor. The gross salary varies between Rs.10, 000 – Rs.15, 000. In private practice the earning is more and depends totally on the effort put into action. Private sector hospitals and nursing homes have tremendous openings for Ayurveda professionals who offer excellent pay-packages.

As Ayurveda system of medicine is becoming more popular in foreign countries, the demand for trained professionals in this field is also increasing. Hence graduates can also dream for a professional career abroad where the remuneration will be beyond expectations.
