hello,

Many Indian competitive exams for graduate-level candidates have a no-negative-marking policy, making them less stressful for aspirants. Here’s a list of some prominent exams that typically avoid negative marking:

1. UGC NET (University Grants Commission - National Eligibility Test)

-  Qualifies candidates for Assistant Professor roles and Junior Research Fellowships (JRF).

-No negative marking.

- Eligibility: Postgraduate degree in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories).

2. GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering)

Admission to postgraduate programs or recruitment by Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).

- Some sections (like numerical answer type questions) do not have negative marking.

- Final-year undergraduate or graduate in engineering, science, or related fields.

4. State Eligibility Test (SET)

Qualifies candidates for Assistant Professor roles in specific states.

-Usually, there is no negative marking (varies by state).

Most of the PSUs like ONGC, IOCL, NTPC, HPCL etc conduct exam at staff level and these exams does not contain negative marking. Some government research organisation like DRDO, ISRO, CSIR etc conducts exam for clearical and staff posts which also does not contain negative marking

Hello Omkar,

Several Indian competitive exams for graduate-level students do not have negative marking. Here are a few examples:

  1. Civil Services Preliminary Exam (CSAT Paper II) : In the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Exam, CSAT Paper II, which tests aptitude, reasoning, and comprehension, does not include negative marking for certain types of questions like decision-making.

  2. GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) : While GATE has negative marking for multiple-choice questions (MCQs), it does not penalize numerical answer type (NAT) questions.

  3. UGC NET (University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test) : UGC NET, which qualifies candidates for assistant professorships or JRF, does not have negative marking across its papers.

  4. CLAT PG (Common Law Admission Test for Postgraduates) : This exam for LLM programs typically has no negative marking for incorrect answers.

  5. SBI PO Mains Descriptive Test : The descriptive section of the SBI PO Mains, which includes letter writing and essay writing, does not involve negative marking.

  6. ISRO Scientist/Engineer Exam : The written test for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) often does not have negative marking, but this varies by year and discipline.

  7. RBI Grade B Descriptive Sections : Similar to SBI, the descriptive sections in RBI Grade B do not carry penalties for wrong answers.

These exams provide an opportunity to attempt questions without the fear of penalty, especially in non-MCQ or descriptive sections. Always refer to the latest notification of the specific exam to confirm rules.

I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries then feel free to share your questions with us we will be happy to assist you.

Thank you and wishing you all the best for your bright future.
