Dear Aspirant,
C.N Annadurai, was not only a peoples politican, but was an ideologist and a major dramatist. He played an extremely crucial role in socially surcharging, politically awakening and culturally rooting the decades of 1940-1960. He was such a rare persona that understood the Western social movements and tried to bring in a change in the culture and status of Tamil Nadu. he pursued his B.A (Honours) and M.A in Economics from the University of Madras to finally become the first non-Congress chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
He was a prolific writer of political plays. Having written over 12 political plays , 86 political essays, 5 novels and 23 short stories, he managed to instill in within the readers a sense of awareness. His first political play was Chandrodrayam which was written in 1943. Three of his political plays were made into films hence giving him a major role in Tamil political Cinema. They are Velaikari, Nalla Thambi and Oor Iravu. The script for Nalla Thambi was meant to strengthen the politcal and social message bearer in his friend and admirer, N.S Krishnan who was a Tamil actor. Inspired by him, Tamil Cinema was later consolidated by the political films scripted by other younger leaders of the party such as M. Karunanidhi who also launched the career of Sivaji Ganesan.
His fans were mesmerized by his political speeches. He was more than willing to be polite and considerate to one and all in his party, He is widely remembered for his honest and spotless political career.
Hope this helps. All the best!
