Banking is one of the most sought after and lucrative career option for the brightest in the country. In our country the basic entry level position in a bank is that of a PO(Probationary Officer).These are managerial positions in the Public and private sector banks.After probation these people are designated as assistant manager or deputy manager by the respective public sector bank .
1)Exams held for entry into banking sector:-
There are various exams for PO post in a bank.Some banks conduct their own examination for appointment to these positions while others depend on a centralised process.Major exams held include:-
B.Tech/B.Arch Admissions OPEN
SBI PO(STATE BANK OF INDIA)
IBPS PO(Institute Of Banking and Personnel)
RBI grade B

2)Ways for entering into banking sector other than examination
Many government /Private sector banks recruit through Post Graduate Diploma in Banking and Finance. Through IGDBF, 9 months of rigorous academic study and 3 months of internship is required after which a particular individual is appointed as a PO in a bank.
3) Structure of IBPS/SBI PO exams:-
Though both exams are different, their pattern and eligibility criterias are almost the same.
For applying in these exams, Candidate must have a degree from any of the recognized university and must have attained 20 years of age at the time of examination.
The pattern of these exams is as follows:-
1)Prelims:- It is an online objective based test which has a predetermined cutoff so as to screen the candidate.
2)Mains:- It consists of two parts-online objective based test and online subjective based test.The subjective based test is of qualifying nature while the objective based test is taken into account for merit.
3)Interview:- A one to one interaction is done with the candidate based on which he/she is selected .
Document verification is the final process after which a person is appointed as PO.
4) Salary:-
A bank PO has a basic pay of 23700 rupees along with various allowances like DA ,HRA transport allowance etc. His take away home pay is 37,800. Though this varies from bank to bank SBI and IPPB offers the maximum salary among all .
