botany is a branch of biology that is focus on the scientific study of plant life it covers topics such as reproduction ,chemical properties, plant growth ,algae and fungi ,structure ,development ,evolutionary relationship etc.



Syllabus

1. Systematic of non vascular plants

It includes topics like algae ,fungi ,bryophyta ,thallus organisation , nutrition etc



2. Plant physiology and biochemistry

this includes topics like plant water relation, solute transport, photochemistry and photosynthesis, respiration



3. Biochemistry

it includes topics like energy dynamics, enzymology, carbohydrates, amino acids and proteins, nitrogen metabolism etc



4. Genetics and cytogenetic

It includes topics like microbial genetics, mendelian and non mendelian inheritance, eukaryotic genome, mutation etc



5. Recombination DNA technology and proteomics

It includes topics like principles and tools of recombinant DNA technology, proteomics



6. Pathogens and pest of crop plants

IIT includes topics like general characteristics of plant pathogenic organisms and pest including viruses, bacteria, insects and nematodes
