NMIMS was established in 1981 as a management institute. In just 15 years or so it is one of the top B-schools of the country. In 2003, based on the performance of the institution, NMIMS was given the deemed to be University status by the government of India. From 2009 onwards, the transformation of NMIMS began to be a multidisciplinary university. We wanted to get into various disciplines not just mainly remain a management school while the management school will continue to drive the institution, we realized that to become a great management school we need to have multiple other disciples. Today we have about 16 schools within the University.
