Thapar University has been ranked in the top 25 institutes for engineering by India Today as well as NIRF. The infrastructure of this college is excellent. The labs are equipped with latest technologies, the classrooms and premises are well maintained and hygienic, the canteen food is satisfactory, sports and medical facilities are available for students etc. The faculties are well experienced and qualified as well. The course curriculum is industry oriented and equips students with skills required by an engineer. The placements are offered in companies such as Microsoft, Cisco, Deloitte, JP Morgan, Oracle, Amadeus etc. The average salary package is around 6.5LPA whereas the highest salary package can go up to 43LPA.

Lovely Professional University has been ranked 87 by the NIRF for engineering. The infrastructure of LPU is one of the best in India. It's equipped with all kinds of facilities that a student might require, ranging from hostels to canteens, sports clubs to libraries, virtual classrooms to laboratories. The faculties are good, too. They're approachable and helpful to students. Personal reviews suggest that the course curriculum could use some changes. Both are decent private universities with decent placements. But comparatively, Thapar University has got a little edge over LPU because of great education facilities and available faculty. The placements are almost similar. Infrastructure wise again THAPAR University is better. But when it comes to fees, Thapar charges a lot more than LPU for the btech course. THAPAR University is ranked 12 but has a fees of 16 lakhs approximately for the btech course. LPU Phagwara is ranked 35th and has a fees of 10.05 lakhs roughly for the full btech course. So depending upon this information, and choosing any differential criteria, you can choose the one which suits you more...
