Hello aspirant

The amount of energy required to remove the constituent ions from Crystal lattice to an infinite distance is reffered as Lattice energy or Lattice enthalpy.

788 kJ of energy is required to separate Na+ and Cl- ions from one mole of NaCl . So for NaCl Lattice dissociation enthalpy is 787 kJ mole¹ .

For NaCl amount of Lattice formation enthalpy is -787 kJ mol¹

Hello!!!!

Hope you are doing great!!!

Lattice energy of a solid is the energy released when the ions are combined to make a compound. It is the measure of cohesive forces between the ions.It is relavent to many properties like solubility, hardness, volatility.Lattice Energy is derived from Bornhaber 's Cycle.

Hope it helps!!!
