Correct Answer: 6
Solution :
Let $x$ be the number of apples in the basket originally.
Average weight of $x$ apples in a basket = 50 kg
The average weight of added 6 apples = 60 kg
The average weight of the basket is increased by 5 kg.
Final average weight of $(x+6)$ apples = 55 kg
So, 55($x+6$) = 50$x$ + 60 × 6
⇒ 5$x$ = 360 – 330
⇒ $x$ = 6
Hence, the correct answer is 6.
