Correct Answer: 40 kg
Solution :
The average weight of P, K, and R = 40 kg
⇒ $\frac{\text{Total weight of P, K and R}}{3}=40$
⇒ Total weight of P, K, and R = P + K + R = 40 $×$ 3 = 120 ........(i)
Also, The average weight of P and K is 45 kg and K and R is 35 kg
⇒ P + K = 45 $×$ 2 = 90 ...........(ii)
⇒ K + R = 35 × 2 = 70 ..........(iii)
Putting the value of P + K from (ii) into (i), we get
⇒ 90 + R = 120
⇒ R = 120 – 90 = 30 kg
Putting the value of R in equation (iii), we get,
K + 30 = 70
⇒ K = 40 kg
Hence, the correct answer is 40 kg.
