Solution : Let the cost price of one article be C and the selling price of one article be S.
Given that the cost price of 50 articles is the same as the selling price of $x$ articles.
⇒ 50 × C = $x$ × S
It's also given that there is a profit of 25 percent.
⇒ S = C + 0.25C = 1.25C
Substituting the second equation into the first equation,
⇒ 50C = $x$ × (1.25C)
⇒ $x$ = $\frac{50}{1.25}$ = 40
Hence, the correct answer is 40.
