The crystal structure of sodium chloride (NaCI) is face centered cubic. If the minimum separation between the Na* and Cl- ion is 'r', then assuming the lattice only upto the two nearest neighbouring ions, the Madelung constant will be --- 0.8665 O-1.7476 .
