Pellagra is a disease caused by a severe deficiency of niacin , Vitamin B3. This Vitamin deficiency disease is marked by dementia , diarrhoea and dermatitis , also known as 'the three Ds '. Niacin deficiency can occur through genetic disorders, malabsorption conditions and interaction with certain medications. Vitamin B3 is found naturally in a wide variety of both animal and plant-based foods, including beef, liver, poultry, eggs, dairy products, fish, nuts, seeds, legumes and whole grains.
