Correct Answer: 288 cm 2


Solution : Given: Side of the cube = 12 cm.
Difference = total surface area – lateral surface area
= $6a^{2}-4a^{2}$
= $2a^{2}$
Putting the value of $a$, we have,
= $2×12^{2}$
= 288 cm 2
Hence, the correct answer is 288 cm 2 .
