Dear student,
The general formula of Alkenes is CnH2n . Here C is the Carbon atom and H is the Hydrogen atom. And 'n' is the respective number of these atoms. The first and very basic alkene is Ethene . And its formula is very simple to calculate. Just put n = 2 in the general formula. And hence ethene = C2H4.
