Correct Answer: Rs. 16000
Solution : Let the incomes of A and B be $4x$ and $5x$ and their expenditures be $5y$ and $4y$ respectively. We know that: Income of A – Expenditure = Savings ⇒ $4x - 5y = 6000$.........................(equation 1) Income of B – Expenditure = Saving ⇒ $5x - 4y = 12000$................................(equation 2) By solving equation 1 and 2, we get: $x=4000, y=2000$ Thus, the income of A $=4x=4\times 4000= 16000$ Hence, the correct answer is Rs. 16000.
