Question : The length of a cuboid is half of its breadth and the height of the cuboid is thrice of its breadth. If the breadth of the cuboid is 12 cm, then what is the total surface area of the cuboid?
Option 1: 1680 cm2
Option 2: 1320 cm2
Option 3: 1440 cm2
Option 4: 1560 cm2
Correct Answer: 1440 cm 2
Solution :
Given: The length $l$ of a cuboid is half of its breadth $b$ and the height $h$ of the cuboid is thrice of its breadth.
The breadth of the cuboid is 12 cm.
According to the question,
$l=\frac{12}{2}=6$ cm, $b=12$ cm and $h=3\times 12=36$ cm
The total surface area of the cuboid of length $l$, breadth $b$, and height $h$
$=2(lb+bh+lh)$
$=2\times(6\times 12+12\times 36+36\times 6)$
$=2\times(72+432+216)$
$=2\times 720=1440$ cm
2
Hence, the correct answer is 1440 cm
