Correct Answer: 10.80
Solution :
Given: X and Y are mixed in the ratio of 3 : 2.
The mixture is sold at Rs. 11/litre at a profit of 10%.
Liquid X costs Rs. 2 more per litre than Y.
At 10% profit the selling price(SP) of the mixture $=$ Rs. 11
So, the cost price(CP) of the mixture $=$ $\frac{11}{110}$ × 100 $=$ Rs. 10
Let the cost of liquid X $=$ Rs. $x$ per litre
So, the cost of liquid Y $=$ Rs. $(x-2)$ per litre
Cost of 5 litres of the mixture $=$ $3x+2(x-2)$
According to the question,
$3x+2(x-2)=5×10$
⇒ $3x+2x-4=50$
⇒ $5x=54$
⇒ $x=\frac{54}{5}$
⇒ $x=$ Rs. 10.80/litre
Hence, the correct answer is 10.80.
