The mean free path of the molecule of a gas is inversely proportional to the pressure? How
Hello,
The mean free path λ of a gas molecule is its average path length between collisions of the molecules. Whenever the pressure increases the the molecules get closer to each other, thus reducing the distance between each of them, thereby decreasing the average path length which is the mean free path. Hence, if pressure increases the mean free path decreases. in other words, they are inversely proportional to each other.
Hope this helps,
Good luck!
