A host is an organism that supports a parasite.
Sometimes the host is harmed by the parasite, and sometimes the relationship is neutral.

Unlike commensalism and mutualism, the parasitic relationship harms the host, either feeding on it or, as in the case of intestinal parasites, consuming some of its food. Because parasites interact with other species, they can readily act as vectors of pathogens, causing disease.

There are three main classes of parasites that can cause disease in humans: protozoa, helminths, and ectoparasites.

Common global water-related diseases caused by parasites include Guinea worm, schistosomiasis, amebiasis, cryptosporidiosis (Crypto), and giardiasis. People become infected with these diseases when they swallow or have contact with water that has been contaminated by certain parasites.

1.Tapeworms. You can get a tapeworm, which is a type of flatworm, by drinking water contaminated with tapeworm eggs or larvae.
2.Flukes. Flukes are another type of flatworm.
3.Hookworms.
4.Pinworms (threadworms).
5.Trichinella.
