Question : The pie chart given below shows the production of wheat by six states. The total production of wheat by all these six states is 3600. The production of wheat in a particular state is shown in terms of degree with respect to the total production of wheat by all these six states.


What is the difference between the average production of wheat by P and Q and the average production of wheat by R and T?

Correct Answer: 400


Solution : First, do the calculation in terms of the angle made at the centre.
For P and Q,
Total production = 110° + 70° = 180°
Average production = $\frac{180°}{2}$ = 90°
For R and T,
Average production = $\frac{100°}{2}$ = 50°
Difference = 90° – 50° = 40°
Since 360º is equivalent to 3600
So, 40° is equal to $\frac{3600×40}{360}$ = 400
Hence, the correct answer is 400.
