Its called Winnowing. The process of separating the chaff from the whole grain is done through ancient agriculture methods. And one of them is wind winnowing. But after Industrial revolution to spare time and manual labour, new techniques like Fanning mills have come into picture. But wind winnowing remains the age old technique.
