The salary defined is annual or monthly??

It depends on how your employer pays you.

The company in the appointment letter might tell that they are ganna pay you a certain amount of money per year or per annum. This means that the total salary they pay you is for one whole year.

On the other hand if they tell you that the salary is monthly then the money will be paid per month.

Remember to always calculate your TDS and PF
