Photorespiration is a biological process that happens in plants as a part of Calvin Cycle. It happens in peroxisomes and mitochondria. In this process carbon dioxide is released. It usually happens when oxygen concentration is high.

First product of photorespiration is phosphoglycolate which is further dephosphorylated to produce glycolate which is the final substrate of this chain of reactions.
