Question : There are three measuring tapes which measure 56 cm, 64 cm, and 80 cm in length. Find the least length that could be measured by using any of the three tapes. (Only one type of tape should be used at a time and only complete tape should be used to measure.)

Correct Answer: 2240 cm


Solution : 56 = 2 3 × 7
64 = 2 6
80 = 2 4 × 5
The least length that could be measured by using any of the three tapes which measure 56 cm, 64 cm, and 80 cm in length
= LCM of 56, 64, 80
= 2 6 × 5 × 7
= 2240
Hence, the correct answer is 2240 cm.
