Thoughts on doing MBA after engineering
Most of the students in premier business schools are engineers thanks to the maths component in all entrance exams. Most of them join MBA to get out of existing jobs most of them choose unrelated jobs like jobs in BFSI, FMCG sectors and marketing and finance functions. Engineers have entry to all industries whereas non-engineers may be barred from industries or specific companies. Having a work experience will help to leverage your career. If you want to be in marketing, more than three years work experience will be a negative point for you. Choose where you want to be after MBA, then plan your MBA.
It is also recommended to have at an year of work experience before getting into an MBA so that you have an first hand idea of being into a business and you can have a better understanding of the concepts taught in MBA.
