The very term good engineering colleges is very subjective as good college for you might be bad college for another but I can advice you about colleges like IIT, NIT, NIIT which come under JEE.

First thing is that college mentioned above have reservations based on category student has to work really hard to secure seat.

Regarding marks in JEE main for general category any score above 220 will give you chances in some excellent NIT and for college like IIT whose CSE is considered better than most IIT you have to score more than 270 atleast.

For IIT you have to achieve good rank in JEE(Advanced) and some private colleges like BITS has their own test called BITSAT in which good score for CSE in pilani campus has to be 400+ out of 450.

EVERY COLLEGE HAS DIFFERENT CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION IN DIFFERENT BRANCH.
